YOT - Mechancial Brain Teaser:  What's a YOT? The YOT is a shiny metal disc that comes with a real US Silver Dollar. The challenge is to open the YOT and remove the coin without power tools.

The YOT is one of the few puzzles in the world that can be opened with a single move that is completely invisible to the eye. Once you learn the secret (and practice a little) you can demonstrate the trick over and over-right in front of your audience's eyes-and everyone will be amazed. So how do you open the YOT? I just gave you another hint. I said, the YOT can be opened with a single move that is invisible to the eye. So what kind of move would that be? Have you already read our hints. No luck. OK, I am about to tell you but first one more hint. How can you move the six pins inside the YOT all at once? What principal of physics can retract six pins? OK you're stumped. But one more thing-if you are giving the YOT as a gift, we strongly recommend NOT giving this solution with the puzzle. Instead, if they need help, send them to the HINT BUTTON FIRST. OK, here goes. WARNING THE SOLUTION TO THE YOT IS REVEALED BELOW. DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW THE SOLUTION. The solution is to spin it. SPIN IT. SPIN IT! The puzzle is designed with six pins that retract by centrifugal force when spun. The spin should be made with a quick flick of the wrist. The pins retract easily and the YOT is open and long as the puzzle remains in a horizontal position-that is, not tilted one way or the other. Once the YOT is unlocked, pull off the top. That's all there is to it. To understand how easy it is to retract the pins, practice with the YOT on a desk. Spin it on the desk and pull off the top. The desk will align the YOT in the correct horizontal position. Spin the YOT with a medium spin and open the top. Now try it will a quick, light spin. See how easy it opens. Try it a few more times, and now you are ready for the mid-air move. With the YOT held by the handle of the top, spin the YOT quickly and remove the top. Is the YOT in the horizontal (flat) position? Good. Now try it again. . .a quick, invisible spin. Yes, the hand really is quicker than the eye. Once you have mastered the technique, you can show it to your friends over and over again.
